What is being used and how toxic is it ?
Most people focus on this question only! But toxicity is all relative. Real hazards come from the combination of:
Nearly every product we use these days is far less toxic than table salt. If you imagine taking a teaspoon of salt and dissolving it in 10-20 litres of water, would you be concerned if you sprayed that around your home? What we do in the industry is far less toxic than that! |
Where is it going to be used ?
Like most things that are harmful, you lock them away from children and pets so they avoid contact with them. You only get them out and use them carefully when needed. The same with any pesticide. Even those of extremely low toxicity should be treated the same way. Pesticides are generally applied in areas where you will not come into contact with or have very limited contact with such as behind and underneath furniture/appliances and on external vertical walls. |
What are the chances of coming in to contact later on ?
If products are placed in areas you cannot physically access (e.g. under fridges, in wall cavities etc) , then contact later on would be very unlikely. NOTE: (The only exception to this is when you have fleas, mosquitoes, bird mites or fabric pests – there is no other option. When a pest controller sprays products on the outside of your home, the target areas are on walls, gardens, and other places that absorb the product. With all the modern formulations our industry uses, there should be no concerns once these products dry. Once again, the chance of actually contacting these areas on a regular basis are almost nil. |
