MOSQUITOESLiving in the tropical and humid conditions of North Queensland we are regularly subjected to the unpleasant experience of being bitten by mosquitoes, not only does the mosquito bite cause a skin irritation through an allergic reaction to the mosquito’s saliva, but a far more serious consequence can be the transmission of certain serious diseases such as:
Mosquitoes are a part of life living in the tropics of Cairns, but it doesn’t have to be this way. Generally, mosquitoes are a seasonal pest coming out in numbers during the warmer and wetter months that we have up here. |
There are several things you can do around your home to limit the severity of the mosquito season in Cairns, some of the best things to do is to turn over or discard all water holding containment's in your yard such as old tyres, pot plant trays etc.
Ponds, non-draining roof guttering, and local waterways also provide a breeding site for these pests. I also find keeping the foliage around your homes to a minimum will drastically help in keeping your mosquito numbers down. If you’re having a problem with mosquitoes and want your place treated to help stop the mosquitoes for around 6 weeks we can provide a mosquito treatment program which consists of treating all the external foliage, subfloor areas and external walls if required. A lot of clients may have a party, BBQ, wedding or function at their house and will get a treatment done to relieve the mosquito issue so the guests can have a bite free party. If you’re interested in having a mosquito treatment done at your property please contact Pest Off Solutions to ask any questions or for any information. |
